First week of school

October 1st was the first day of school for the boys.
Here they are ready to go- the preschooler, the kindergartner, and the 2nd grader.

                                                                   In their classroom

Silas wanted to join in the pictures.

Apparently, it was wear green day at the school. The boys with Auntie Anna.

                                                                 With both teachers

Silas' classroom looks a bit different....

Though he was a bit timid on the first day, he did ok and was happy to see us. He wanted pics with each of us. "You take picture of me and daddy.....now me and mommy.....now just me...."

We had had to leave the boys' passports in Bamako to get new Mali visas. They were returned to us that day. As we were talking, we looked over and saw the three of them admiring their passports. Just another normal day in the life. :)

The boys all survived the first week (and so did mommy). Tues I left Silas kicking and screaming which left me in tears. Wed I recruited Brett to go with me and S walked in just fine. Thurs K went with him (and will go each week) and so it was fine, though K did cry once I left. He told me, "I didn't mean to but my body just isn't used to this school anymore." Friday was a bit tough again for S. So pretty much, it went as expected. Always happy the first day and scared silly on the second when they realize that no one else speaks "normal" as S said. :)

Funny comment from S: He was telling us about kids in his class. He told us about the two boys who had the same head. I remembered that there are a set of twins in his class. I guess that's a good way to describe it. :)
