Help Please!

It is time for us to make a new prayer card to give out while we are home. We have only done one- which was just Brett, me, and Dawson. Cute, but a bit outdated. Each time we thought about doing another I was either pregnant or had just given birth and didn't want that sight passed around to lots of people. So we waited, but now we can wait no longer.

I used to be a critic of family pictures- why aren't the kids smiling? that kid isn't looking at the camera...they kind of look funny...the list goes on. I can no longer be a critic. Getting a family picture of three children is a terribly difficult task. So none are by any means perfect. There isn't one where all are smiling and looking. But regardless we must choose something.

So here are the options. I seriously want your opinion...

Option 1- our blog picture. I like this one. Colors are good. the only negative is Dawson almost looks like he is frowning. I think he is really just looking away. Other problem is that Silas is younger and has no hair. (these are from Aug 2009)

Option 2: Because this is what they most often look like. :)

Option 3: I like that everyone is looking but if I'm going to be honest about it, I think I look fat. Bad angle for me.

Option 4: Everyone is looking- plus. Kenan is eating an orange (as he is in every one from this set). Other problem that the lighting isn't great and the shadow is on Brett's face. And yes I am wearing the same clothes this time as I was in August.

Option 5: ok, not really an option, but not bad if Brett had been looking. He was trying to keep our niece from the edge of a cliff. I guess that was a worthwhile reason to not be looking...maybe. (just kidding, Jen. glad he was watching out for SG)

Option 6:

Option 7: everyone is looking but no one looks that happy

Option 8: the lighting is the problem here

Option 9:

Option 10: again, not bad except the color....can that be fixed with something beyond the basic stuff we have?

Option 11: This set is just to show you that we have tried many times to get a family picture, but alas it just doesn't work. So believe me, we've tried. And this is only a fraction of the pictures.

Option 12:

Option 13, ok, this isn't really an option

Option 14 at least they are all smiling

Or maybe we should just keep the original picture we have of Brett, me and Dawson. :)

PLEASE tell me your favorites. Though I am willing to try for another photo shoot, the boys aren't so I think we've got to go with what we've got...unfortunately.

  1. I like the "upside down" one best, except someone is missing. =)

Really, as far as colors and lighting go, your blog photo is best. Maybe you should do another one where the boys are superheros only a bit closer, like the blog photo. At least you look good in photos. I always look like I'm squinting.

I wouldn't worry about how old Silas looks. He's anyway going to look totally different before you get rid of all the prayer cards, as are his brothers.

  3. I've always thought that your blog picture is amazing, so I like that one the best. Although, I do like option 14...the one with the other family, but I think that would confuse people as they pray for you!!! ;)

  4. First, I have to say that I laughed harder as the pictures went along...only because I understand. And because that's the stage of life you're in, I like #12 because you and Brett are smiling. I also think if you sent #8 to someone with a fancier editing program that they can fix the lighting on Brett for you. And if you just want to choose from what you have and be "pretty", go with the blog pic. Have you ever thought about having a collage or at least 2 pics on your card? One of you and Brett together and another of the boys? Our last card was our family, but the boys were looking at each other. So, we added a small pic of just the two of them smiling in the corner. If I can find it, I'll send you an electronic copy.

  5. I'd go for Option 14. I think they are a great looking family :) HA!!

My thoughts- We have photoshop access at school so I could work on changing the lighting or better yet, give the picture to the teacher of the computer arts class and have him fix it in a jiffy! It's Seth's dad so I think he would do it for me.
Other option- take a picture of you and brett and then do three good pictures of the kids down the side like a Christmas card.
Let me know which picture you like and we can work on the lighting.

  6. Your blog photo has been a favorite of mine ever since I first saw it...great colors, lighting, close-up, etc! I like all the others and you are such a good-looking family that you can't go wrong, but the blog one is my top pick if forced to choose.

  7. i have to agree with the others and say the blog pic is great and super easy. i do also like option #4 but the lighting is not so good. if jennifer's friend can fix that, this would be a good choice, too. i really like option #5 but not so good of brett (why not have jen's friend cut/paste brett's face from option #4. if fact, just cut/paste your fav or everyone and piece together... wouldn't that be nice if it worked?!). all in all, the blog pic is easiest and is good of all of you as is.
